BBC pundit really wasn’t impressed by ‘brilliant’ 24-year-old Spurs player defensively

Clinton Morrison has admitted that he has a concern over Pedro Porro despite the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s ‘brilliant’ ability in the final third.

Spurs were excellent against Manchester United on Sunday. Despite welcoming back the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Ange Postecoglou continues to await the returns of a number of other key players. But Tottenham were the better side at Old Trafford.

Pedro Porro went into the game off the back of scoring an ‘unbelievable’ winner against Burnley in the FA Cup last week. Of course, he has been absolutely prolific at setting up goals for his teammates.

Clinton Morrison not convinced by Tottenham star Pedro Porro defensively

In fact, his assist for Richarlison was his eighth of the campaign in the Premier League. The 24-year-old has definitely stepped up his game this season.

However, Tottenham looked vulnerable at the back once again, with Manchester United scoring twice in the first-half on Sunday. And speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Clinton Morrison suggested that he is not entirely convinced about the Spaniard at the back.

“You know defensively, still a problem for Tottenham. Even though that is probably their best back four at the moment, I still think, Porro is brilliant going forward, but I question him defensively,” he said.

Ange Postecoglou will be happy with Spaniard’s contribution

Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to have too many complaints about Porro right now. He has now moved alongside Mohamed Salah and Ollie Watkins for the most assists in the top flight this season.

The former Sporting star arguably provides a level of quality that few others in an outstanding Tottenham team offer, particularly in the final third.

And much like Liverpool with Trent Alexander-Arnold, it is a trade off Spurs are more than happy to make. They would be a much less dangerous side if they did not have Porro offering that threat down the right and from set-pieces.
