‘Clever footballer’: BBC pundit stunned by how good Ruben Neves is from range, amid continued Arsenal links

Ruben Neves remains linked with a move to Arsenal and he impressed for Wolves again today, scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Brentford.

Neves has become a talisman for Wolves. In the middle of the park, Wolves have no one better. It’s no surprise, then, that Neves has been linked with big-money moves away in recent seasons.

Indeed, as recently as a few weeks ago, Neves was again being linked with a move, this time to Barcelona. However, that same report has also claimed that Barca believe Arsenal are still in the mix to sign the Wolves ace. Whether or not a move materialises at some point, remains to be seen.

However, regardless of that, Neves did himself no harm today. He caught the eye with a fine goal, and the BBC’s Dion Dublin was very impressed with the Portuguese ace.

“Ruben Neves is a clever footballer. He always finds himself in a position where his first touch is right. Anything that is rolled from the edge of the box whether it’s on his left or right foot, he will want to take it. He shouts at his team-mates and manages to stick the ball into the net,” Dublin said after Neves has equalised.

TBR’s View: Ruben Neves is tailor made for Arsenal

Arsenal could do with a few more players of high quality and Ruben Neves is certainly one player who’d improve them.

Sure, the likes of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are doing great. But the best squads have loads of competition and Neves would bring more than that to Arsenal.

Set-pieces, long-range goals, and a composure in the middle that’s hard to find, Arsenal should still be looking at Neves. And if they can sign him, then it would be a massive boost for Mikel Arteta.
