Barone claims reported Arsenal and Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic will stay
Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone has claimed Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic is not for sale.
What’s the story?
Both north London clubs have been linked with a move for the Serbia international.
Spurs have viewed the player as a good option whether Harry Kane leaves or not.
Meanwhile, Gunners duo Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette face an uncertain future, leaving the club chasing a number nine, including Vlahovic.
However, they have been stopped in their tracks with the Serie A club now certain to keep the 21-goal ace.
He said: “Dusan Vlahovic is not for sale. He will stay at Fiorentina this summer, he’s untouchable as our president already said.”
Arsenal and Tottenham need Vlahovic-like player
Amid comments from Barone, Arsenal and Tottenham need a Vlahovic-like centre-forward.
The ace was in superb form for Fiorentina last season, scoring 21 goals in Serie A.
It is the type of potency Mikel Arteta is lacking at the Emirates Stadium. And the type Nuno Espirito Santo will need if Harry Kane leaves this summer.
Last season Alexandre Lacazette finished as the top scorer in the league with measly 13 goals. And at 30, he is well past his best and needs replacing.
Aubameyang is 32 and also not getting any younger.
Meanwhile, Kane has scored more than 17 goals in each of his last seven seasons in the Premier League. It is scary how consistent the star striker has been, hence why he needs an adequate replacement.
But, with Vlahovic no longer a target, this window has just got much more difficult for both teams.
They will need to search far and wide for a player like the Serbia international.
