The Champions League finally makes a return for the 2025/26 season, as 36 teams enter the league phase in search of glory.

For Arsenal, it’s an opportunity to make history, following an impressive campaign last time out in Europe.

There were some memorable moments, not least Arsenal’s win over Real Madrid, which took them all the way to the semi-finals.

Eventual defeat to PSG spelled the end of Mikel Arteta’s team, though, as they took a leap in terms of their European ambitions.

Now, Arsenal want to go one step further as they look to seal themselves among some of the greats of the game.

It all starts with a clash away at Athletic Club in the Champions League’s league phase, as a fast start is needed to get points on the board.

So, with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about the clash.

Athletic Club vs Arsenal prediction

The Champions League always makes for some interesting match ups, and it will be intriguing to see how the clash between the Premier League and La Liga falls.

For Athletic Club, the lack of Nico Williams is huge, while they will need plenty of quality to beat Arsenal on the night.

The Gunners finally have strength in depth, combined with the physicality and quality that any team would find it tough to deal with.

For that reason, it’s tough to see beyond an Arsenal win.

Prediction: Athletic Club 0-3 Arsenal.
