At just £8.5m, Tottenham need to elbow Arsenal aside and sign ideal Ajax flyer
Arsenal are reportedly looking at signing a new right-back this summer, with Hector Bellerin’s future in doubt. Reports from Spain claim that the Gunners could sell Bellerin and replace him with Nouassir Mazraoui of Ajax – but at just £8.5million, Tottenham need to rival Arsenal.
The Gunners are interested in 23-year-old Mazraoui with Bellerin struggling for his best form at Arsenal. Cedric Soares has not been a particularly good signing – leaving Calum Chambers to finish the season at right-back. So, the Gunners need a right-back and Ajax’s Mazraoui has emerged as an option.
Estadio Deportivo claim that because Mazraoui has entered the last 12 months of his contract, he could be available for a cut-price fee. While Ajax would normally request £14.5million, Ajax are ready to sell him for just £8.5million. Arsenal are interested, but surely Tottenham need him too?
Why Tottenham have got to beat Arsenal to Mazraoui signature…
Across North London, Tottenham also need a right-back. Matt Doherty joined from Wolves but he is struggling at Spurs. Serge Aurier remains just as error-prone and now, he looks likely to leave this summer – with his contract ending in 2022. If Spurs want a fee, Aurier needs to go
So, a replacement is required at right-back. One that can finally offer Tottenham the kind of player they have lacked since Kyle Walker or Kieran Trippier were at the club – but for a small-ish fee. Mazraoui is a bargain at £8.5million, but is he good enough? His form at Ajax would suggest so.
Still young, a 12-time Morocco international and a both impressive going forward and in defence – Spurs have got to rival Arsenal for Mazraoui.
