A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from The Telegraph concerning the future of Oriol Romeu and potential transfer interest from Aston Villa.

Saints supporters are already starting to become used to seeing their players linked with a potential Villa Park switch this summer.

Villa’s interest in James Ward-Prowse came to light earlier in the window. Understandably, reports swiftly suggested that the Saints would have no interest in selling their skipper.

And of course, the two clubs did business a couple of years ago when the Villans landed Matt Targett.

It seems that they would now like one of the left-back’s old teammates to make the same move this summer.

According to The Telegraph, they are admirers of Romeu. However, it is noted that Villa are not optimistic about their chances of signing the 29-year-old.

Several of the Saints fans have insisted that they cannot see any way Romeu makes the move this summer.

They have also joked that Villa are looking to take the place of Liverpool by going after a number of their best players.

But it is clear that they are serious when they implore Southampton to not consider letting the Catalonian – who earns £65,000-a-week – leave.
