Aston Villa fans have reacted to Morgan Rogers’ performance against Sunderland in the Premier League.

Despite playing against ten men after Reinildo’s red card, Aston Villa could not capitalise and beat the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.

It continued Aston Villa’s torrid start to the Premier League season, with Unai Emery’s side sitting 18th in the Premier League table.

A lot has to be put on the players, who just haven’t got going. That includes last season’s Premier League Young Player of the Year, Morgan Rogers, who Villa fans were not happy with on Sunday afternoon.

Morgan Rogers criticised by Aston Villa fans

Rogers is usually showered in praise, but this wasn’t the case in Villa’s latest Premier League performance. Fans had lots of criticism, with one even branding him “pathetic”:

One states: “Really don’t wanna jump on players, but there is something going on with Morgan Rogers. I don’t believe he can be this bad for so many consecutive games for no reason. Whatever it is, I hope he gets it sorted and starts enjoying his football again. It’s sad to watch at the moment.”

“Another week, another Morgan Rogers stinker. Looks like I’m not the only one with a lack of football knowledge,” another puts.

One more adds: “Morgan Rogers should be glued to the bench for the foreseeable future.”

“Serious questions need to be asked about Morgan Rogers, though. All his recent performances have warranted starting on the bench. Such a huge drop-off,” another disgruntled Villa fan questions.

“What’s wrong with Morgan Rogers? Loved watching him play last season, looks so out of place right now,” another ponders.

Lastly, one states, “Morgan Rogers needs to come off, for his own sake. He’s either not fit or his mind is elsewhere ahead of January.”

Morgan Rogers’ stats vs Sunderland

His poor performance was reflected in his stats on the day:

Emery needs to find out what’s going on with Rogers and address it quickly. He looks like a shadow of the player he was last season.

That said, Rogers possesses an undeniable quality when in top form – Villa just need to rediscover that, and quickly, otherwise their season will continue to take torrid turns.
