Report: Gerrard could offer up £25m signing to land 'incredible' player ahead of Arsenal this summer

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is apparently desperate to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton this summer and in a surprise move, could offer up Danny Ings to get the deal done.

Ings only signed for Villa last summer for £25m but has been woefully out of touch of late. The England international has scored just twice in 14 games for the Villans and missed a couple of big chances this weekend too.

And now, according to The Mirror, Steven Gerrard could be willing to offer Ings to Brighton to ensure Villa land one of his number one targets, Yves Bissouma. The Mali international is one of the most in-demand midfielders in the Premier League, and Arsenal are long-time admirers of him. Indeed, amid Arsenal’s interest, reports last month claimed Bissouma had told Brighton he is ready to leave.

The Seagulls are thought to want around £50m for the midfielder. Bissouma has been integral for Graham Potter, helping the Seagulls into a comfortable mid-table position this season.

It’s believed that Gerrard is planning a big overhaul of his squad this summer. Ings, despite only arriving last summer, is among a host of big name players the new Villa boss is looking to move on.

TBR’s View: Gerrard Will Be Ruthless At Villa If Needed

He was like it as a player and he is showing signs as a manager, but Steven Gerrard won’t accept anything less than the best he can get from his players.

It looks like he’s made his mind up on a number of players already and isn’t frightened to move them on either. A number of big names, like Ings, are named by The Mirror, and it shows Gerrard isn’t happy.

Bissouma, meanwhile, would be a brilliant signing. Graham Potter called his man ‘incredible’, so it’s little surprise to see such a clamour for his signature.
