Eddie Howe must be growing quite frustrated at Newcastle.
Anthony Elanga is the only new arrival so far this summer, but the excitement of that £55m deal has quickly dissipated as Alexander Isak pushes to leave Newcastle for Liverpool.
TBR Football understand Newcastle are looking towards Benjamin Sesko to replace the Sweden international.
The Slovenian is also a target for Manchester United.
Now – however – Aston Villa could make it more difficult for Newcastle to sign Benjamin Sesko after the Villans made an approach for Lois Openda.
Newcastle face potential race against time for Benjamin Sesko
Sacha Tavolieri now states that Aston Villa have been holding talks over a deal for the Belgium international for some time now, and the RB Leipzig No.11 would be interested in a move to Villa Park.
However, if RB Leipzig agree to sell Openda to Aston Villa while Sesko is still at the club, the Bundesliga side would presumably be more reluctant to lose the Slovenia international as well in the same summer.
Openda and Sesko were part of a two-man attack at RB Leipzig last season in a 3-4-1-2 formation, scoring 13 goals and 21 goals respectively, so the German outfit would surely be firmly against offloading their entire attack in one window.
The duo played ahead of Xavi Simons – who is potentially heading to Chelsea as talks go on – so time really is of the essence for Newcastle if they want to sign the RB Leipzig No.30 this summer.
Lois Openda development is encouraging for Manchester United
While the Openda news might stress Newcastle out, it is positive for those over at Old Trafford.
TBR Football understand Manchester United are holding talks with Aston Villa over a deal for Ollie Watkins as Ruben Amorim aims to find a new striker.
The aforementioned Tavolieri adds that Aston Villa must sell the England international if they want to sign Openda, so the fact talks are still ongoing over the Belgian attacker suggests a sale to Manchester United could well be in the pipeline.
