'As of today': Romano issues Jack Grealish update as Manchester City circle

Manchester City are yet to open talks or agree a fee with Aston Villa over Jack Grealish, according to respected journalist, Fabrizio Romano.

City fans were getting excited this week as reports suggested that Grealish could be on his way in a £100m deal. Multiple media reports suggested City had agreed a fee with Villa, with a deal set to be announced after the Euros.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, things haven’t got that far yet. And taking to his Twitter account, he tried to clarify where things were at.

Romano’s update is a far cry from those reports in the week that suggested otherwise. It’s also widely believed that Villa are trying to tie down Grealish to a new contract.

Villa have been insistent over the course of a number of months that they intend on keeping Grealish. However, money does talk, and if City do put up £100m, it will be hard to turn down.

Further, a good Euros finish for Grealish will give him the taste of success, something City can offer.

Latest on Grealish to Manchester City is good for Villa but is it just a matter of time?

City seem deadly serious about making a splash this summer. They seem intent on making a big play in the market, with Grealish and Kane the top targets.

The only issue for City is they know other clubs know they have money. With that, teams like Villa will simply hang fire. And unless City put up the cash Villa want, then they’ve no pressure to sell.

It could all change if Grealish makes it known he wants out though. If that happens, then Villa will have to sell. There’s simply no point keeping him.

In terms of City, if they get him, they’ll be unstoppable. Their team is already full of talent and adding someone like Grealish simply makes them even more irresistable.
