Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe heaped praise on Bukayo Saka for the way he handled all the criticism that came his way following Euro 2020.

Saka and Smith Rowe have arguably been the Gunners’ best players over the last two seasons. The two youngsters, who both came through the ranks at Hale End, have established themselves as quality footballers at the top level, and have even become full England internationals.

Emile Smith Rowe says Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka has ridiculous maturity

Smith Rowe isn’t quite a mainstay in the England setup just yet, but Saka is. The 20-year-old attacker made a fantastic name for himself at the Euros last year, but what happened in the final was heartbreaking.

The Arsenal man missed the crucial penalty that saw Italy win the Euros. Following the result, Saka was subjected to disgusting abuse on social media, which is difficult for anyone to take, let alone someone as young as him.

Smith Rowe has now heaped praise on how maturely his young teammate dealt with it last year.

The midfielder told The Daily Mail: “I’ve grown up with him, I’ve known him for a long time. So for him to come through it, it’s no surprise to see how strong he is.

“At such a young age, his maturity is ridiculous. I’m happy for him and long may it continue.”

Saka deserves immense credit for not only dealing with the criticism and abuse but also for bouncing back and having an exceptional campaign for Arsenal last season.

The 20-year-old, branded as a ‘fabulous player’ by Gareth Southgate, scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions last term – more than any other Arsenal player. He’s one of the biggest reasons why the Gunners came so close to qualifying for the Champions League, and he’ll once again be a very important player for them this campaign.

Arsenal have done well in the transfer window so far. Gabriel Jesus is undoubtedly their best signing, and if the Brazilian can form a good partnership with Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the opposite side, the Gunners will be a very dangerous team next season.

Both Saka and Jesus scored against Everton last weekend, and they’ll be hoping to do just that when Arsenal take on Orlando City tonight.
