90min journalist Harry Symeou has told The Talking Transfers Podcast that they have learned that talks between Arsenal and William Saliba over a new deal are progressing well, while the Gunners’ movements in the market may help convince Bukayo Saka to sign a new contract.

Mikel Arteta’s men have kicked on after a positive year with their new-look side. They have confirmed the much-anticipated deals for Marquinhos and Matt Turner.

But they also caught many off-guard by sealing a move for Fabio Vieira. And it seems that Gabriel Jesus is set to follow them through the door at the Emirates.

Arsenal are not done there. They have made at least two bids for Raphinha. And reports on Wednesday claimed that they have made a third bid for Lisandro Martinez.

They may miss out on Raphinha. But you would imagine that Arsenal will respond in impressive fashion. And that appears to be having a positive impact on the current squad.

Much has been said about Saliba’s future. But it seems that Arsenal are edging closer to tying the Frenchman down. And the work they are doing in the market is also impressing Saka.

“We’ve heard over the last few days that the talks with William Saliba over a new contract are moving quite well,” Symeou told Talking Transfers.

“We’ve also been told that Saka’s people are watching the window and have been quite pleased by what they’ve seen and could potentially sit down with Arsenal sooner rather than later as well.”

Arsenal window helping convince Saka to sign a new contract

Agreeing a new contract with Saka will feel just as satisfying as a new signing for many supporters. He has been absolutely outstanding ever since breaking into the team.

Keeping Saka – who has been described as ‘special‘ – is vital in helping Arsenal go where they want to be. And it seems that he is now incredibly tempted to commit his future to his boyhood club in the coming months.
