Arsenal have told Juventus that they would only be willing to take Aaron Ramsey back this summer if he is able to return on a free transfer, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Ramsey has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League once again. And the Gunners have been in the mix at various points.

The Welshman has endured a tough time in Turin. He has actually only made 24 Serie A starts for Juve since leaving the Emirates.

So perhaps he could be on the way back to North London this summer. Arsenal are seemingly not ruling the idea out.

However, it does appear that they are not prepared to part with a significant sum to offer the 30-year-old the chance to rejoin the Gunners.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal have informed the Old Lady that they would only take Ramsey on a free transfer.

It is also claimed that the midfielder would have to take a pay-cut. He is reportedly currently earning around £187,000-a-week in Italy.

The report notes that Juventus are not prepared to let him leave for nothing. But they may be open to a swap deal.

Arsenal have reportedly already discussed swap deal with Juventus in this transfer window

Arsenal may not be surprised to hear Juve’s stance. As mentioned, the Gunners have been linked with Ramsey for a little while.

And one of the recent reports to emerge concerning Ramsey suggested that a swap had already been brought up.

In fact, it was previously claimed that the two clubs had discussed a potential transfer which would also see Hector Bellerin head in the opposite direction.

Perhaps these fresh reports could lead to those talks being resurrected in the near future with Arsenal unwilling to pay a fee for their former midfielder.
