Arsenal transfer news: Shakhtar send Mykhaylo Mudryk message as Chelsea move nears
After months of intense speculation, Arsenal and Chelsea target Mykhaylo Mudryk finally looks to be Premier League bound.
The Gunners for a long time thought they were in pole position to sign the Ukrainian, but Stamford Bridge now looks like his final destination.
Now, his current club, Shakhtar Donetsk, have send a message on Twitter related to Mudryk.
Mudryk has been Arsenal’s number transfer target for some time now, and made several bids to sign him.
However, things rapidly accelerated yesterday, with Chelsea sending representatives to meet Shakhtar personnel in Poland.
A deal appeared to be reached very quickly, and Graham Potter’s side now look set to add Mudryk to their ranks.
Shakhtar’s player of the year has dropped plenty of hints in recent days and weeks about wanting to join Arsenal.
It will be interesting to see just how excited he is about being part of Chelsea’s project this season.
Shakhtar send Mudryk message on Twitter
This morning, Shakhtar tweeted a very short message that will have Chelsea fans on high alert.
They simply said, #FreeMudryk, referring to the plea from fans for the winger to be allowed to leave the club.
Tuttomercatoweb suggested that Arsenal also sent Edu to Poland to try and negotiate a deal.
However, the Gunners simply couldn’t – or wouldn’t – offer the same amount of money as their London rivals.
It now looks like Arsenal have quickly changed track and have identified their next target.
Arsenal are once again interested in signing Raphinha, after he rejected a move to The Emirates in the summer.
The Brazilian is certainly more proven in the Premier League than Mudryk, after having a superb spell at Leeds.
However, after Shakhtar have sent their latest message about Mudryk on Twitter, it’s unlikely Raphina will generate the same level of excitement.
Chelsea could unveil Mudryk as soon as this afternoon when they face Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
Potter will be hoping his side can turn around their awful form with their latest recruit watching on.
