Arsenal transfer news: Leandro Trossard keen on move as he eyes big pay rise
Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard is keen on the idea of a switch to Arsenal, with HLN reporting that the player knows he could land a big pay rise.
Mikel Arteta may have missed out on his top target in Mykhaylo Mudryk over the weekend, but the Gunners are moving quickly to sign an alternative option.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news today that Arsenal have opened discussions with Brighton over the signing of Trossard.
The Belgian winger has fallen out of favour under Roberto De Zerbi after the pair seemingly clashed behind the scenes at the Amex Stadium.
The 28-year-old’s agent released a statement that declared he is actively seeking a move away from the Seagulls this month.
Now, Arsenal are looking to take full advantage of Trossard’s situation at Brighton and it seems the player is keen on joining the league leaders.
Trossard wants to join Arsenal
HLN reports that Trossard is refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal with Brighton, with his contract set to run until the end of next season.
The outlet claims that Arsenal have not yet made a formal offer for the winger, but talks are ongoing.
Trossard is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium and is also aware he could earn a much higher salary at Arsenal.
He’s been on Arsenal’s radar for around four years as his old side, Genk, actually held talks with the Gunners over a possible deal before he joined Brighton.
Arsenal will be hoping to wrap this deal up quickly to avoid the likes of Chelsea attempting to hijack the move.
Trossard’s form for Brighton has been described as ‘unreal’ as he’s managed to bag seven goals while providing three assists in 16 Premier League appearances this season.
This seems like a smart move for Arsenal, especially as they are in need of attacking depth as they push for the Premier League title.
The Brighton star is clearly set on a move away from the Amex and the Gunners could snap him up for a relatively cheap price. The Belgian has been a standout performer for De Zerbi’s side this season and will be ready to slot straight into Arteta’s squad as a Premier League-proven player.
