Arsenal transfer: Lazio offer 25-year-old £49.5k-a-week deal; prepared to pay Gunners in two instalments
Lucas Torreira may have to be prepared to take a pay-cut if he hopes to seal a transfer away from Arsenal this summer, with Calciomercato providing details of the deal Lazio are looking to strike for the midfielder.
Agreeing an exit will be a boost for both Arsenal and Torreira. It has appeared for some time that his future lies away from the Emirates.
Of course, he spent last season out on loan. And he now appears set to seal a permanent exit.
According to Calciomercato, Lazio are working to bring Torreira in. They will reportedly need to sell players first.
But the report has also provided some insight into the terms of a potential deal with Arsenal.
Calciomercato claims that the Biancocelesti are looking to pay Arsenal two instalments of £8.6 million over the next two years.
A contract worth £49,500-a-week has been made. He is reportedly on around £57,600-a-week at the Emirates.
Torreira transfer best for both Arsenal and Uruguayan after difficult spell
It is a shame that Torreira has not been able to make things work in North London.
Many supporters seemed baffled by Unai Emery’s reluctance to use him more during his tenure.
Perhaps some will feel that Emery and Mikel Arteta have been vindicated with Torreira not exactly standing out in Spain.
But it was a difficult time for the Uruguayan away from the pitch.
Nevertheless, a transfer away from Arsenal looks to be best for both the Gunners and the midfielder.
He can get his career back on track. And Arsenal have greater funds to target some of the names on their wishlist.
A move to Lazio looks to be edging closer. Sadly, everyone looks set to be a winner if that deal goes through.
