Arsenal have been accused of being too defensive this season, with pundits questioning if Mikel Arteta is holding the team back.
The Gunners have been in the Premier League title race for the past three seasons, but have missed out by finishing second each time.
This time around, there is a feeling that Mikel Arteta can get them over the line, following over £250 million being spent in the transfer window.
That’s not to say it’ll be easy, however, as Arsenal have found out with their opening fixtures of the season.
Clashes with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle early on have proven quite testing for the side, as they ease their way into things.
However, Gary Neville has urged Arteta to take the “handbrake off”, while Jamie Carragher questioned the team’s intent against Man City.
With that in mind, one Arsenal star has come out in defence of the side’s tactics.

Christian Norgaard defends Arsenal tactics amid defensive claims
Given the lack of cohesive, free-flowing football at times, the suggestion that Arsenal are too defensive isn’t a new one.
However, following heavy investment in the forward areas, it is one that comes with some increased scrutiny on the manager.
Arsenal summer signing Christian Norgaard has come out in defence of his manager, though, when speaking to the Standard.
When asked about the claims that the team are too defensive, he responded: “I think we’ve been going for it a lot in those games, particularly at the weekend [against Man City].
“I know we equalised late, but I think we were the dominant side, looking over 90 minutes, with more chances, more momentum.
“Sometimes xG [expected goals] doesn’t show the right picture always. That could have created a lot of chances for some of the attacks that we had in the game.
“I think we are an attacking team with an attacking mindset. Hopefully, that will also show in the next couple of games.
“The players, the talent is unbelievable. There’s so much quality in the team. Now it’s just about getting it to click. I’m sure it will, and then we’ll be flying.”
While Arsenal may dominate games, their inability to take risks and play exciting football is what has brought about the most questions.
While Arteta may have a formula for those big matches, there is a run of games coming where things may have to change.

Arsenal must show more attacking flair in upcoming Premier League matches
While it is fair for Arsenal to say they have been dominant and look to attack, the lack of chance-creation and excitement is what will drive some questions.
Given the Gunners have a poor record against Newcastle, there may be a plan to go slightly more cautious away at St. James’ Park.
However, beyond that point, Arsenal need to turn dominance into chance creation.
Games against the likes of West Ham, Fulham, Burnley and Sunderland may be favourable on paper, and should offer a chance to create plenty.
If Arsenal continue to stumble from there, the questions surrounding Arteta will only drag on.
