Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli did something last night that no player has managed for eight years in the Champions League.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, which claims the Arsenal winger dribbled past Sevilla defender Juanlu Sanchez a total of eight times.
Martinelli put in an exceptional display on Wednesday evening as he helped the Gunners to a 2-0 win over Sevilla.
The 22-year-old created Bukayo Saka’s goal in the second-half which ultimately secured three points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Brazil star has become an integral part of Arteta’s side over the past 18 months and his ability in 1v1 situations is a huge weapon for Arsenal.
Martin Keown labelled Martinelli’s display for the Gunners last night as ‘absolutely ridiculous’ and the Arsenal legend may have a point when you look at his dribbling stats.

Martinelli did something no player has managed for eight years in Arsenal vs Sevilla clash
The Daily Mail claims Martinelli dribbled past Sevilla right-back Sanchez eight times last night.
No defender has been beaten more in a Champions League game in the past eight seasons.
It’s fair to say that it was apparent Sanchez struggled against Martinelli’s explosive pace last night and the stats show that was the case.
Many defenders have failed to deal with the threat of the Brazilian over the past couple of years due to his direct style. Indeed, William Saliba has already admitted Martinelli is absolutely rapid and Sevilla simply couldn’t handle him last night.

Arsenal will be hopeful Martinelli continues to produce this type of form after a slightly slower start to the campaign for the winger.
There have been signs that Martinelli is rediscovering his best form and he’s at his best when he’s running at opposition defenders.
