Arsenal signing Moussa Diaby unlikely due to £88m asking price
Arsenal now look unlikely to be able to sign Moussa Diaby, with 90min reporting that Bayer Leverkusen want more than £88 million for the winger.
The Gunners are now being linked with a raft of forwards after missing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk after months of speculation.
Raphinha was the first to be mentioned. Sport Italia suggested that Arsenal had made contact about a possible move for the Barcelona star.
Arsenal target Diaby will cost more than £88m
Sky Germany has since reported that the Brazilian wants to stay at Camp Nou. But their report added that Arsenal were monitoring Diaby.
Diaby has been outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen this season. He has scored eight goals and contributed four assists in all competitions.
Sky Germany noted that Diaby would not come cheap. And 90min has now provided further details on the Gunners being linked with the Frenchman.
Their report suggests that a move to the Emirates is currently looking unlikely. And one of the major hurdles is the fact that Leverkusen want more than £88 million (€100 million) for Diaby. That would make the 23-year-old more expensive than Mudryk.
Diaby has been ‘astonishing‘ for the Bundesliga side. He has scored 43 goals and contributed 41 assists in 146 games for the club.
Mudryk was clearly the name at the very top of Arsenal’s wishlist for a long time. So if they were reluctant to pay so much for the Ukrainian, it is little surprise that they seemingly have little intention of paying that amount for Diaby.
He is clearly a very special talent with incredible pace. He would have the potential to get Arsenal fans out of their seats.
But it would seem that those hoping that he ends up in Mikel Arteta’s squad this month are set for disappointment.
