Arsenal reportedly in talks over £12.8m 'Yaya regen', fans should be buzzing - TBR View
Arsenal have reportedly been in talks over Barcelona prodigy Ilaix Moriba.
According to 90Min, the Gunners are one of multiple Premier League clubs who’ve spoken to the 18-year-old’s representatives.
As well as Arsenal, the Manchester clubs, the Merseyside duo, Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham, Leicester and Wolves have also been linked.
The Gunners appear to have a big battle on their hands if they want to sign Moriba.
That said, he’s a top player and Arsenal fans should be excited about the prospect of signing him.
Arsenal target Moriba – the story so far
Moriba, who joined La Masia in 2010, has burst onto the scene at Camp Nou this year, making his first-team debut in January.
Ronald Koeman gave Moriba his debut in the Copa del Rey win over Cornella in January.
The midfielder has clocked up 18 senior appearances for Barca, including 14 in La Liga.
Moriba scored his first top-flight goal against Osasuna in March, becoming Barcelona’s fifth youngest scorer in their history.
However, he is out of contract next summer and is yet to reach a new deal at the club.
Catalan outlet ARA Esports claim Barcelona want around £12.8million for Moriba.
A player with so much quality and potential would be an absolute bargain at that price.
Not only would he have plenty to offer Arsenal from the off, but could grow into a world-class player within a few seasons.
Moriba style of play
Denis Silva Puig, Moriba’s former coach, said the player was nicknamed after Paul Pogba due to the similarities in playing style.
“He’s physically very strong, but he’s also a very intelligent player,” the Liverpool Echo quotes him as saying. “Most people don’t appreciate this.
“Here he’s called the ‘Pogba of Barca’ because he’s like a young Pogba, but also he is very, very intelligent, and that is his big potential.
“He is a top player, no doubt.”
Moriba has also been compared to Yaya Toure, with numerous football fans seeing similarities between the two.
