Arsenal are reportedly set to loan out Khayon Edwards to League One side Leyton Orient in the final hours of the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old striker has been linked with a move away from north London for the past few weeks, with Edwards viewed as a player who could benefit from the experience of going out on loan.

Multiple clubs were reportedly interested in recruiting Edwards on loan, yet it appears that east London side Orient have now won the race to sign the attacker.

According to Jeorge Bird, the forward is currently finalising paperwork to secure his first loan move away from the Gunners, with Edwards set to finally experience senior football.

Lauded by the same reporter as ‘prolific’, Edwards could benefit hugely from a loan spell in League One, especially for a club as big in the division as Orient.

Moreover, the striker heading to a London-based club could help Edwards greatly with settling in at Orient, which in turn could lead to a fast start with the Leyton-based side.

Arsenal’s success with sending players out on loan has been hit or miss, to say the least, yet Edwards could be one of the few triumphs of the system.

The attacker will be joining a familiar club with a proud tradition of developing youth players and giving them a platform to perform and to impress against some of England’s oldest footballing establishments.

And for Edwards, the youngster could relish in the chance to play for Orient, with this move having all the hallmarks to being a great one for the striker if he can hit the ground running at Brisbane Road.
