Arsenal now perfectly placed to land 'complete' £22m midfielder as rivals' approach falls short - TBR View
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Palmeiras midfielder Danilo in recent months.
In November, 90Min claimed that the Gunners were in advanced talks with the Brazilian club over the 21-year-old.
More recently, Jorge Nicola said he spoke to Palmeiras insiders, who said Arsenal were readying a bid.
Since then, there haven’t been any major developments involving the Gunners and Danilo.
However, Nicola has reported that Monaco have attempted a ‘formal’ approach.
Meanwhile, Palmeiras reportedly want €25m (around £22m), suggesting Arsenal can breathe a sigh of relief.
Nicola then points out that Danilo should receive offers from other clubs, ‘especially in England’.
Arsenal are mentioned again. It’s claimed there’s ‘a lot of interest’ from the Gunners in signing the player.
Therefore, it looks like a matter of waiting and see if an offer will be made.
Arsenal reportedly tried with £22m in the summer, but Palmeiras were in the middle of their season.
Understandably, they didn’t want to lose one of their key players.
But now, with their season over, the time seems right for Danilo to embark on a new challenge.
And with Monaco’s approach seemingly not enough, Arsenal are perfectly placed to try again for Danilo.
“He has to play in the Premier League”
Back in April, Dudu – Danilo’s Palmeiras teammate – urged him to join a club like Arsenal in the near future.
“He is a star, he has to play in the Premier League,” Danilo’s teammate Dudu told ESPN, via Goal.com.
“I always tell him: ‘You have to play for Manchester United, or Arsenal.
“He has to stay calm, he is a kid who gives his all, but I tell him: ‘You are a player for Chelsea, those kind of teams’.
“He scores, he gets in the area, he helps with marking. He’s a complete midfielder in Brazilian football.”
