Arsenal now in contact over signing international playmaker this month
Arsenal are now in contact with Roma over the signing of Nicolo Zaniolo this month.
According to Italian outlet Repubblica, the Serie A club are open to doing a deal over the Italy international before the transfer window ends.
They are not interested in a loan deal, but are open to a permanent transfer if the price is right.
And it seems the asking price is between 30 million and 40 million euros (£26.5 million – £35.4 million), which is cheaper than Mykhailo Mudryk would have been.
Arsenal trying to buy Zaniolo from Mourinho
Zaniolo is currently managed by Jose Mourinho, who has of course been in charge of three of Arsenal’s biggest rivals in Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Mourinho made it clear what a big fan he is of the Italian, speaking to the club’s YouTube channel earlier this season after a victory.
“Dybala and Zaniolo played an extraordinary game and both could have scored two goals each. I’m incapable of not saying that Dybala and Zaniolo played an extraordinary game.”
It has recently been reported that Spurs are keen on Zaniolo again, after they came close to landing him in the summer window.
Newcastle have also been linked as they look for midfield reinforcements to keep their push for Champions League football on course.
And Arsenal are now looking for alternatives for Joao Felix and Mudryk, who both went to Chelsea instead, as they aim to bolster their squad depth for the business end of their title chase.
