Arsenal news: William Saliba loan reportedly edges closer; could arrive at new club on Sunday
Arsenal defender William Saliba could seal his loan move to Marseille as early as Sunday, according to a report from French outlet La Provence.
Saliba looks set to spend another spell away from the Emirates. And it appears that a return to Ligue 1 is edging ever closer.
According to La Provence, the Gunners are close to agreeing a loan with Marseille. It is noted that there will be no option to buy the 20-year-old included.
And it is claimed that the deal could happen imminently. According to the report, Saliba could arrive in France on Sunday or Monday if an agreement is reached.
Arsenal fans will hope Saliba proves point while on loan
It is fair to say that a lot of Arsenal fans will be disappointed when Saliba leaves. For many, it was a big relief when it was claimed that the loan includes no option to buy.
Saliba did extremely well while with Nice last season. And he will hope to prove a further point to Mikel Arteta and Edu while away.
Of course, Arsenal look set to strengthen their centre-back options. Ben White is expected to join the club after the European Championships.
White is an amazing talent. But Saliba – who earns £40,000-a-week – is clearly a fan favourite. So the supporters will be keeping one keen eye on his progress with Marseille.
