Report: Arteta plans on using 'electrifyingly fast' Arsenal youngster from the outset this season
Arsenal have completed a number of new signings this summer but one which hasn’t got the same attention as others is that of young Brazilian, Marquinhos.
The teenager winger moved to Arsenal and there is a firm belief within the Gunners camp that they’ve signed yet another top South American talent. The likes of Martinell and Gabriel Magalhaes have flourished at Arsenal, and Marquinhos will hope to follow suit.
However, few have really suggested we could see a lot of Marquinhos this season. That is, until now, with The Athletic reporting that the use of the Brazilian in the summer and the failure to sign Raphinha could mean he is given opportunities in the first-team right from the get-go.
The ‘electrifyingly fast’ winger impressed recently against Brentford in pre-season, where it was reported in the match ratings that Marquinhos ‘appeared to impress’ thanks to his ‘lively’ display for the Gunners.
Certainly, you feel Arsenal fans won’t be averse to seeing a bit of Marquinhos early on this season. Brazilian wingers usually bring a bit of excitement to the table at the very least. And we all know Arsenal fans are big fans of players who can get them off their seats.
TBR’s View: Marquinhos Can Impress For Arsenal
With the Gunners not adding to that right wing slot just yet there is a real chance for Marquinhos to stake a claim as being number two behind Bukayo Saka for now.
August will be a big month for the player and the club and if Arsenal don’t make another move into the market, then they’ll need players already in the squad to step up to the plate.
Marquinhos is clearly a talented player and if he can produce a few decent performances early on, he might just win the trust of Mikel Arteta and keep his place all year round.
