Arsenal may have received boost in hopes of attracting £15m Eddie Nketiah bid - TBR View
One of the players facing an uncertain future at Arsenal looks to be Eddie Nketiah.
Like many, Nketiah endured a tough season last year. And he now only has one year left on his contract in North London.
There is interest. One problem however, is the asking price. Reports suggest that Arsenal want at least £15 million for the striker.
Nketiah has only scored five Premier League goals in his career. And with his contract expiring next summer, it would appear that Arsenal may have to be prepared to compromise if they hope to sell him in this window.
Selling players now looks to be key if Arsenal hope to continue their overhaul of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
So moving Nketiah on looks to make sense for all parties. But of course, finding someone to pay his asking price may be a tough task.
However, perhaps they may have just received a boost on that front.
Nketiah goal reminds admirers of what Arsenal star can do
In the Gunners’ latest pre-season game, it was Nketiah who got the opening goal. And it was a superb finish from the youngster.
He ran onto a ball sent down the left flank, before cutting inside and unleashing a emphatic curling effort into the far corner.
It was a piece of brilliance from Nketiah. And crucially, the goal came against a side who have been linked with the forward this summer.
The Daily Mirror reported in May that Watford want Nketiah.
Obviously, the Hornets are unlikely to press ahead with a move solely off the back of one moment of magic.
But it does highlight just how much potential Nketiah has.
Unfortunately, it is hard to see Nketiah realising that potential with Arsenal. There looks to be too much competition for him to thrive.
But perhaps that goal will help the Gunners attract the kind of bids they were hoping for. And maybe it may prompt Watford to be one of those who act.
