Arsenal may have perfect bargaining tool in pursuit of £60m-rated star - TBR View

Arsenal rumours have been flying around in the past couple of days linking them to Leicester City’s James Maddison.

According to Football London, the Gunners are interested in Leicester’s 24-year-old star.

Apparently, the Foxes will demand over £60million for their attacking midfielder, who’s on the top of the priority transfer list for Arsenal.

Additionally, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is an “admirer” of his.

Maddison, who’s not with the England squad this summer at the Euros, has just enjoyed a great individual season.

Maitland-Niles is the perfect bargaining chip for Maddison

If Arsenal want to think outside of the box in their pursuit of Maddison, they should consider offering a player-plus cash deal.

One man that would be ideal is Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of the the most recent season out on loan with West Brom.

However, before his loan at the Hawthorns he was linked with Leicester. The Daily Mirror claimed in January that Leicester were planning late move to try sign Maitland-Niles.

Arsenal should definitely now considering sounding out a possible deal with Leicester that includes Maitland-Niles in part-exchange for Maddison.

There is plenty of talent in Maitland-Niles, who’s earned five senior caps for England. But, it’s going to be a struggle for him breaking into Mikel Arteta’s squad at the Emirates Stadium. His versatility can be his biggest downfall.

Maitland-Niles can definitely go on and have a successful Premier League career, but Arsenal should be willing to let him go if it came at the price of signing Maddison.
