Report: 'Special' player Arsenal want to sign will be able to leave for £50m under new contract

Arsenal have been tracking RB Leipzig midfield sensation Christopher Nkunku for some time now, and they could get him for just £50m in the future.

Nkunku is one of the stars of the Bundesliga and scored an impressive 35 goals in all competitions last season, while he also added an impressive 19 assists as well. In terms of stats, Nkunku is among the elite in Europe when it comes to goal contributions.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are said to have expressed an interest in Nkunku in recent months. And while a deal might be out of the question this summer, a new contract for the Leipzig star could pave the way for a future bid. A report from Leipziger Volkszeitung has claimed that Nkunku is set to put pen to paper on fresh terms with the Bundesliga outfit.

However, Nkunku’s new contract is set to include a £50m release-clause that can be triggered at any time. That will be music to the ears of Arsenal, who will see £50m as a fair price for such a ‘special‘ talent.

The Gunners are yet to make a signing as yet this summer. Mikel Arteta is known to want some new faces, with a forward and midfielder said to be of particular interest.

TBR’s View: £50m For Nkunku Is A Bargain Buy In This Day And Age

We are talking about a player here who has contributed directly to 50+ goals this season. And he’s a midfielder by trade as well.

Yes, he can play at the top of the pitch. But Nkunku’s versatility only adds to his value. For Arsenal, he is exactly the sort of player they should be looking to bring in. He would be able to make an instant impact and France have already rewarded him with senior caps.

So, while this summer might be out of the question, there is no doubt Arsenal should pursue Nkunku in the future if this clause is correct.
