Arsenal now interested in signing ‘outstanding’ 18-year-old, he’s thinking about leaving

Arsenal are now said to be interested in a young striker who’s often been linked with Manchester United for the coming summer.

Perhaps Mikel Arteta’s side once again demonstrated their need for more firepower against FC Porto last night, a game in which they had almost no attacking presence.

Arsenal failed to register a shot on target and did leave the door open for a late defeat, which arrived in cruel fashion.

That being said, on this occasion it did seem as if Arsenal simply were stifled by Porto, the performance wasn’t the fault of Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian, who has been in fine form as a false nine, failed to have an impact, but it would seem harsh to blame him individually.

Either way, it does seem as if Arsenal will be in the market for a new striker this summer, and German outlet BILD are now reporting their interest in Mathys Tel.

The Bayern Munich youngster, who arrived at the club from Stade Rennais in 2022, is said to be unhappy with his playing time at the club via this report.

And although Tel and his camp were quick to dismiss links away in the past, it seems that has now changed.

Arsenal now interested in young Bayern striker Mathys Tel ahead of summer

According to BILD’s report, Tel is now ‘seriously thinking’ about a change this summer, and could be tempted by an English club.

It seems Man United are first in line for now, but Arsenal are also keeping track of the striker with the summer in mind.

And although Tel is an ‘outstanding’ talent, one or two Arsenal fans might question the merits of a move.

If Arsenal do sign a striker this summer it will seemingly be at the expense of Eddie Nketiah, who will surely move on.

And considering any newcomer would need to be an upgrade, presumably a ready-made goal scorer, Tel may not be the right fit.

Although the 18-year-old has a lot of potential, he’s surely not ready to put serious pressure on Gabriel Jesus’ spot, in the way a Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney would.

And quite pertinently, Thierry Henry has now been discussing what he’d like Osimhen to do this summer.
