Arsenal have reportedly held talks over £40m star who's like '05-08 Cesc', fans should be buzzing - TBR View
Arsenal are currently light in midfield and could soon bring in reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Gunners would “100 percent” bring in a new midfielder.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Arthur Melo in recent days.
However, most of the speculation suggests he’ll be arriving at the Emirates on loan.
There’s been one transfer report that looks more like it could be a long-term, summer deal.
But if rumours are true, then Arsenal fans should be excited, because the player in question is a real star.
According to Goal.com, the Gunners have held talks with Youri Tielemans’ representatives over a potential move.
Discussions reportedly took place at London Colney in recent weeks to explore the situation.
Tielemans has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
The Belgian has five goals and two assists in the top flight this term.
And of course, it was his goal that won Brendan Rodgers’ side the FA Cup last season.
Tielemans has just 18 months left on his contract and he’s yet to pen an extension.
The Goal report claims a January move is unlikely, with Leicester expected to keep hold of the £40million man as they try to convince him to sign a new deal.
However, Arsenal apparently believe they could be an appealing option for the midfielder in the summer, especially if they can offer him Champions League football.
“One of the most dynamic midfielders in the Premier League”
In April last year, Breaking the Lines wrote a comprehensive scouting report about Tielemans which explains just why he’s so good – and so right for Arsenal.
“This season has seen his role slightly change from what we’ve seen from him before, but it’s complemented Leicester,” they wrote.
“As they look to become a more possession-dominant side, Tielemans has proven to be an excellent outlet in build-up, assured on the ball and capable of progressing play very well.
“Generally speaking, his high-level technique, intelligence, and versatility make him an asset to any team.
“However, we’ve seen his game is much deeper when recognizes the how and why he is actually effective and what makes him special.
“Much of this is derived from the unique traits of deception and skills with both feet which he leverages in combination in order to manipulate space for him to execute his often-perfect passes.
“Seven years after bursting onto the scene for Anderlecht, Tielemans has rid himself of the ‘promising youngster’ tag and established himself as one of the most dynamic midfielders in the Premier League.”
Fans of different club allegiances have long been praising Tielemans – here are some of the top player comparisons:
