There are only four players in the current Arsenal squad who are performing better than expected in terms of their xG.

That is according to a report in The Athletic, which has named Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard among those players.

So, what has been reported about the four Arsenal players who are seemingly ‘over-performing’ this season? Let’s take a look.

Four Arsenal players outperforming their Xg

Well, according to The Athletic, there are four Arsenal players who are scoring more goals than they were expected to.

The report has noted that Declan Rice, Eddie Nketiah, Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard are doing better than expected in terms of scoring goals.

England international midfielder Rice, who joined Arsenal from London rivals West Ham United in the summer of 2023, has scored three goals in the Premier League so far this season and has an xG difference of 1.5.

Striker Eddie Nketiah, who could be sold in the January transfer window, has an xG difference of 0.9. He has scored five goals in the league this season.

Norway international attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard has scored four goals in the Premier League and has an xG difference of 0.1

The Athletic has noted that winger Leandro Trossard has a 0.1 xG difference. He has found the back of the net three times in the Premier League.

My View: Arsenal have to step up their game

In my view, Arsenal have to step up their game in the coming weeks and months if they are to win the Premier League title this season.

We know that Arsenal are going through a bad spell at the moment. Manchester City have star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne back from injury, while Liverpool are back to being a force reckoned with.

Arsenal have to make sure that they do not drop any more points than they already have. The Gunners probably need to sign a new striker as well in the January transfer window if they are to win the Premier League title.
