Report: Arsenal have now put an offer in for 'fantastic' attacking player, amid fears about Gabriel Jesus deal

As Arsenal sweat on a dea for Gabriel Jesus, reports in Italy have now claimed the Gunners have put a bid in for Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata.

Calciomercato has claimed that Atletico have received an offer from Arsenal for Morata, who has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Juventus. It comes as the Gunners are hoping they can land Gabriel Jesus as their main number nine, after tracking him all summer.

However, with some uncertainty still looming over the deal for Jesus – Tottenham are thought to be pushing as well – it looks like the Gunners board has made contingency plans.

Morata has never quite hit the heights many thought he would in his career. He had a frustrating spell in England before with Chelsea, while he only actually netted 12 times for Juve last years. Despite winning plenty of trophies at club level, Morata will have wanted more from his career.

But that hasn’t stopped Arsenal expressing an interest again. The Spaniard was one of the names mentioned in January as well, when Arsenal missed out on Dusan Vlahovic.

Dubbed a ‘fantastic‘ player by Antonio Conte, Mikel Arteta might feel he can get the best out of his fellow countryman.

TBR’s View: Morata A Serious Arsenal Downgrade From Gabriel Jesus

Morata has his qualities, we all know that. But is he as good as Gabriel Jesus or bring as much to the table as the Brazilian? Not at all.

His last spell in England with Chelsea left a lot to be desired and his goalscoring has never really reached the prolific levels he once promised.

Morata can have his good days. You don’t achieve all he has and play for Juventus recently without being a good player. But if Arsenal did this deal and not the Gabriel Jesus one, then Gunners fans would raise some eyebrows.
