Arsenal fans would love to sign reported 30-year-old attacking target
Arsenal are reportedly interested in Manchester City’s £60million star Riyad Mahrez – and some of the club’s fans have responded on Twitter by claiming they would love to see him at the Emirates Stadium next season.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are keen on trying to swoop in for the 30-year-old this summer. And Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta previously worked alongside him when he was at the Etihad Stadium.
The report says that Man City could remarkably be prepared to let the Algerian attacker leave. Raheem Sterling is another high-profile name that may be sacrificed to aid a rebuild.
It is understood there may be a reshuffle in the summer within Pep Guardiola’s squad.
If Mahrez were to be sold at the end of the season, it would be remarkable given the year he’s had. The dazzling right-winger has a special individual talent, and has been tormenting full-backs all campaign.
A selection of Arenal supporters on social media have made it clear that they think Mahrez would be a stunning addition.
Mahrez at Arsenal would be everything Willian should have been
It seems like nothing more than just paper talk with Mahrez. He’s been one of Man City’s key players in huge success this year, and there is still a chance he could win the Champions League on Saturday, too.
The wide man would excite Arsenal supporters beyond belief if he somehow did end up playing under Arteta.
It’s a reminder that the Gunners did spend big, on £192,000-a-week wages anyway, when they signed Willian last year following his Chelsea release.
The 32-year-old has completely flopped though. Many expected him to bring the kind of skill he showed for many years at Stamford Bridge, but it’s been the opposite from that.
