‘I’d be so shook’: Arsenal fans want Manuel Locatelli signed after Italy display

Arsenal fans were given a glimpse of Manuel Locatelli this weekend and it’s safe to say Gunners fans were pretty impressed with what they saw.

The Italian midfielder put in a fine display as Italy saw off Turkey with ease in Rome on the opening night of the Euros. Roberto Mancini’s men looked a real force and even on that one display, could be a team to watch this summer.

Locatelli is at the heart of things for the Italians, too. The classy midfielder has been linked with a move to a number of clubs this summer. Manchester City are among them, while Juventus are also keen.

But while those clubs could well end up landing Locatelli, it is Arsenal who need a central midfielder this summer. The Gunners are looking like they’re selling Granit Xhaka. The Swiss star is said to be off to Roma, where Jose Mourinho will be waiting with open arms.

Arsenal, then, will need a replacement. A number of names have been linked already. Sander Berge of Sheffield United is one, as is Brighton midfield star, Yves Bissouma. Beyond that, Dennis Zakaria has been touted, while the club are also looking at Rodrigo De Paul.

However, it is the name of Locatelli which was doing the rounds on Twitter this weekend.

Locatelli a class act who would improve Arsenal instantly

The signing of Thomas Partey last summer proved a popular one. The Ghana star is going to be great, and after a season settling in, we should see the best of him next season.

But Partey needs someone next to him. He needs a player who is going to help with the workload and also be consistent. That is something that is key for Arsenal, if they’re ever to close the gap to the top four.

Locatelli, then, would certainly do that for the club. At just 23, the Sassulo man has the world at his feet really. A good Euros this summer will only enhance his reputation. Indeed, he got off to the perfect start on Friday as well.

And that performance had a number of Arsenal fans purring on Twitter about the potential signing of Locatelli.

The Gunners support base on Twitter is never short of a word or two when it comes to potential signings. And this was the case with Locatelli.

Arsenal supporters seemed intent on discussing his potential arrival, despite there being no obvious links as yet in the media.

That’s not to say that Mikel Arteta won’t go for Locatelli. In fact, Arsenal fans would love nothing more, based on some of the chat on Twitter.
