Report: Juventus want to beat Manchester City to Manuel Locatelli signing

According to reports from Italy, Juventus could scupper any plans Manchester City have for signing Sassuolo midfielder, Manuel Locatelli, this summer.

Calciomercato claim that Andrea Pirlo is keen on landing Locatelli and will prioritise his signing for Juventus this summer.

The Italian international, 23, is in high demand this summer thanks to some fine displays in Serie A. He’s also made an impression at international level, having already won nine caps for Italy.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is thought to be keeping tabs on the midfielder himself. It is believed Pep sees Locatelli as a potential replacement for Fernandinho, who is reaching the end of his career at The Etihad.

But Juve could well make their move and hinder any plan Guardiola has with Locatelli. The Italian giants have freely spent in recent years, meaning any transfer fee or big wage contract is unlikely to be an issue.

City, meanwhile, are preparing for an FA Cup semi-final this weekend, as they seek to complete a historic quadruple this year.

TBR View: Locatelli clearly a class act but Juventus will be tempting for him

One thing is becoming clear as the summer window nears, and that’s that Manuel Locatelli is a man in demand.

He’s obviously a huge talent who can get even better, which is why City and the likes of Juventus are so keen on him. He’s going to have the pick of clubs it seems, with plenty to choose from as well.

The disadvantage for City is that so many Italian players long to play for teams like Juve and Milan. If they come knocking, they invariably get their men. Guardiola, then, could have to turn on the charm.
