Manchester City announced the signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa on Thursday evening, sparking mass reaction on social media. But what could Grealish’s move to City mean for the club’s current players? Well, Arsenal fans think their reported pursuit of Riyad Mahrez has been given a boost.

Grealish, 25, joins City for a club-record £100million deal – which of course, is a British record for any side. It comes after a brilliant 20-21 campaign, producing 18 goal involvements in 26 Premier League games. He was a crucial part of England’s Euro 2020 side, sparkling against Germany.

What are Arsenal fans saying about Grealish and City – Mahrez boost?

City already boast numerous options in the final third. In attacking midfield, they have Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ferran Torres and Bernardo Silva. So, for Grealish to come in, perhaps City will look to make some space for the ex-Villa skipper.

Mahrez, at 30 years of age, could be made available for transfer. The Daily Mail says Arsenal are considering a move for the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac). Responding to Grealish’s move on Twitter, many Gunners fans think that a potential move to get ex-Leicester Mahrez might now be on the cards.

One of many fans does not think Mahrez will get enough “game time” following the signing of Grealish and urges Arsenal to lure the Algeria skipper to The Emirates.
