Arsenal have made an enquiry to Premier League outfit Manchester City for Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, according to Eurosport.
The Gunners are desperate to bolster their attacking ranks. Both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette could leave, whilst others may depart too.
Mikel Arteta oversaw an eighth place finish last season. That simply won’t do during 2021/22 and the Spaniard wants two players he knows very well.
The Arsenal incumbent was at City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager and worked with both Mahrez and Sterling for years.

Arteta has decided to check on the availability of the City duo. The champions are preparing to bid for Harry Kane so would surely welcome the cash.
Signing them won’t come easy to Arsenal. Both Sterling and Mahrez hope to stay in the North West and will hold talks with City when pre-season begins.
Both players are also on decent contracts at the Etihad Stadium. Sterling earns a staggering £300,000-a-week, whilst Mahrez collects £120,000-a-week.
Arsenal won’t have Europe to attract players next season. Their latest enquiry is likely to be an exercise to determine what level of player they can attract.
The City duo scored 14 goals apiece last season, with Sterling registering 12 assists and Mahrez grabbing nine.
Both players would improve Arsenal’s wide options and it’s easy to see why Arteta is keen on the pair.
Arsenal fans eye Mahrez
Following the reports earlier this week, Gunners supporters have been stating who they’d prefer their club to sign. It seems as though Mahrez would get the nod with the fan base.

Although Sterling has the edge when it comes to goal contributions, some supporters believe his career has been on a downward spiral for a few years now.
Mahrez is one who they quite fancy though and they’ve been discussing the Algerian on Twitter. Here is what they had to say as Arteta checks on the availability of two Manchester City stars.
