Arsenal fans ‘speechless’ over what Liverpool are set to do after signing Florian Wirtz, makes Gunners look so bad

Arsenal have improved massively over the past few years, both on the pitch and in terms of signings and player retention.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Gunners were known for either letting top players leave for little to nothing, or for big contract extensions that backfired.

However, one aspect in which Arsenal have not really improved has been in terms of big sales.

Now, a number of Arsenal fans have expressed shock over what Liverpool could be about to do in the transfer market, which indirectly makes the Gunners look bad.

Arsenal fans shocked Liverpool could sell Jarell Quansah for more than Gunners’ record sale

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah is currently in talks over a move to Bayer Leverkusen, as confirmed by TBR Football sources.

Meanwhile, The Athletic has reported that Liverpool would sell Quansah for the ‘right money’, and that they value him at “over £40million”.

By comparison, Arsenal’s record sale is around £35million, when they sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in 2017.

A number of Arsenal fans have picked up on this and bemoaned the fact Liverpool could be about to sell a fringe player for more than the Gunners’ record sale.

“Man, this is shocking from Arsenal,” one fan wrote on X. “Quansah alone is going to get us more than any of their historical sales, I’m speechless.”

Another said: “Listen up, Arsenal! Quansah’s €20m market value, yet a €40m+ deal is brewing.

“That’s not luck; that’s negotiation mastery and understanding value creation.

“Your negotiation team? Clearly needs a crash course in closing. Stop leaving money on the table with our players!”

The criticism kept coming, with one fan saying: “Imagine how bad these sales look taking without the academy players sold in the Arteta era. Even those are underwhelming sales.

“Liverpool getting €40m from Quansah who only plays Carabao games. Arsenal sales reek. I bet £60m would somehow get another club Saliba.”

Another fan wrote: “Jarell Quansah for €40m but we can’t manage to get €30m for someone like Zinchenko. We must be doing something seriously wrong.”

Another said: “We need to be called out on how bad we are in selling players .. we just so bad. Fix up asap Arsenal.”

How Arsenal and Liverpool could end up fighting in the transfer market

Although Liverpool’s prospective sale of Quansah has nothing to do with Arsenal, the two clubs could end up fighting over mutual targets soon enough.

For instance, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is on Arsenal’s radar, but Liverpool are also looking at Guehi as a potential replacement for Quansah.

Arsenal also like Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, but TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently spoke about Liverpool’s interest in Hato.

“I know Arsenal have enjoyed watching him at centre-half as Liverpool and Chelsea have,” Bailey recently told TBR Football.

“He’s a fascinating option for those two. We know Arsenal and Chelsea have begun talks.

“Liverpool – everyone presumes it’s Andrew Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas and one of them are going, but there is that option as well where if Robertson goes and then someone wants Tsimikas, they have the option of bringing someone else in.

“Hato is someone they’ve done a lot of work on so I wouldn’t necessarily rule Liverpool completely out there – obviously he can play centrally too.”
