It would seem as though Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun is set to play a part with the Gunners next season. Fans have been reacting after some training images appeared to suggest a new squad number.
Arsenal play Hibernian today in their first pre-season friendly. The team are currently in Scotland for their training camp, minus their players who starred at Euro 2020.
Balogun ended months of speculation when he penned a new contract with Arsenal last season. For ages, it seemed as though he would walk away, although the club managed to persuade him to stay.
Now, the challenge will be to take his stunning form in under-23 football into the new campaign. Mikel Arteta will surely look to hand him some chances in pre-season and the ball will be in his court.
Some photos from Arsenal’s training camp have emerged on Twitter. It would seem as though Balogun now has a peg in the dressing and will wear the number 26 shirt for the Gunners.
The 20-year-old has scored 21 goals in 45 appearances for the club’s under-23 squad. He also proved to be a goal machine for the under-18 ranks.

The Gunners fans love to see their own youngsters nurtured and then promoted into the first team.
Arsenal fans seem extremely excited by Balogun. The striker has scored for fun in the development ranks and must now showcase that he’s a first-team player in the making.
It will be interesting to see if he gets any minutes during today’s game against Hibs. Arteta is likely to assess his squad and getting minutes into his players will be vital.
