Arsenal fans react as Tottenham reportedly close in on Emerson Royal

Tottenham have reportedly agreed a fee to sign Barcelona defender Emerson Royal – and Arsenal fans are frustrated on Twitter.

Reports emerged on Monday that Tottenham were pursuing a deal to sign the one-time Brazil star. He joins Barcelona, after two years with Betis.

Initially, Spurs saw a £17million offer plus Serge Aurier rejected. Then, reports from Mundo Deportivo said Spurs had agreed an larger fee.

Removing Aurier, and adding £8.75million seemed to do the trick. Barcelona, in need of cash, have accepted Tottenham’s £25.75million bid.

It comes in the midst of Arsenal needing a right-back. Hector Bellerin is linked with an exit, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles has posted on Instagram.

Cedric was used at right-back on Saturday against Manchester City and the Portugal international had a torrid time. The need is great for a right-back.

So why are Arsenal not looking at Emerson? Why are they not even pursuing a deal that includes Bellerin – who has been linked with Barca?
