Mundo Deportivo claim Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Emerson Royal from Barcelona, for a fee of £25.75million before Tuesday’s deadline.
Emerson, 22, has returned to Barcelona after a two-year loan spell at Real Betis. The Brazil international sparkled, clocking up 79 appearances.
While he was good in defence, he was also superb in attack – producing 15 goal involvements in his 79 outings. But he is on the fringes at Barca.
In Barca’s first three La Liga games, he has only started one of those. In total, from a possible 270 minutes, Emerson has managed 90 in total.
A report from the Spanish newspaper states that Tottenham are now close to a deal for Emerson. A fee has been agreed, worth £25.75million.

Emerson to Tottenham: The details, as Barcelona prepare for exit
Reports earlier this morning claimed that Tottenham had seen a player-plus-cash deal worth £17million and Serge Aurier rejected – as per ESPN.
Aurier is in the final year of his contract, Matt Doherty is struggling and while Japhet Tanganga has been good – he is naturally a centre-back.
So, Tottenham gone back in after initially failing to sign Emerson. It is now stated that Spurs and Barcelona have agreed a £25.75million fee.
The fee is a mixture of fixed payments, and variables depending on Emerson’s performance in a Spurs shirt. Now, he must be convinced.
Financially, it will not be a problem. He will also be first choice – something he is not at Barcelona. It is all pointing in the right direction for Spurs.
