Leicester City star James Maddison looks back to his best after another brilliant display, during Sunday’s 4-0 win over Newcastle – and Arsenal fans have applauded the England international on Twitter.

Maddison, 25, took his goal involvements to six in his last four Premier League games with a goal of his own, and an assist. Leicester were dominant against Newcastle, miles above their opponents in the second 45.

The Leicester no.10 has been inconsistent over the last 18 months, but the last few weeks have seen Maddison completely up his game. He is certainly back to the standard Leicester fans know he is capable of.

Of course, it could have been very different for Maddison in the summer. Sky Sports reported that the playmaker wanted to join the Gunners in the summer, but Maddison remained at the King Power.

What are Arsenal fans thinking of Leicester midfielder Maddison?

The Gunners, meanwhile, could do with a no.10. Martin Odegaard was bought permanently in the summer from Real Madrid, but inconsistent is the best word to describe his time at Arsenal so far.

His display against Manchester United summed it up. Scoring, he then conceded a penalty. Maddison, who was rated at £60million in the summer, might be the ideal attacking midfielder for the Gunners.

Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to Maddison’s performance for Leicester in the 4-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday. It was Maddison at his best, and many think he would be better than Odegaard.
