Sky Sports claim Leicester playmaker James Maddison wants to join Arsenal this summer. The England international was excellent once again during 2020-21, and Arsenal are keen on luring him to London. Now, a report from Sky claims the feeling is mutual for Maddison – he wants to join Arsenal.

Having produced 21 goal involvements in 42 appearances last season – scoring 11 and creating 10 – Maddison has thrown himself onto Arsenal’s radar. The Gunners are keen to replace Martin Odegaard, who has returned to Real Madrid. They want £110,000-a-week (Spotrac) Maddison.

Football London say Arsenal are trying to get Maddison – who is rated at £60million – in a player-plus-cash deal. The likes of Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah could be included to sweeten a deal. Now, Sky has detailed Maddison’s stance on a move to Arsenal – and he wants to join the Gunners.

Maddison report: He Arsenal back into the reckoning for top four

Replacing David Luiz was a must for Arsenal and while some fans will state that centre-back did not need strengthening, Luiz’s ability was a loss. Not just his defensive qualities, but his passing too. Ben White replaces that. Arsenal have also added quality in midfield with Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Another midfield is needed even if Granit Xhaka stays. But replacing Odegaard with Maddison is a brilliant move. A front four of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Maddison, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette is very strong. It could just take Arsenal back into the race for the top four.
