Currently, Sporting CP and Frederico Varandas are blocking Viktor Gyokeres’ move to Arsenal, but fans think there could yet be hope.
As TBR Football exclusively revealed, Arsenal remain calm over Sporting’s Gyokeres stance, with Frederico Varandas fining the striker for not travelling to their pre-season camp.
The 26-year-old is desperate to move to Arsenal and feels the Portuguese club have gone back on their promise of letting him leave, something the president has denied is the case.
Varandas has said: “If they don’t want to pay Viktor’s fair market value, we’ll be very comfortable with that for the next three years.
“If the geniuses who are devising this strategy think that this puts pressure on me to make it easier for him to leave, not only are they completely wrong, but they are also making it more complicated for the player to leave.”
The North London club’s supporters are becoming restless about the situation, but have found a reason to believe that this issue will eventually get sorted.

Arsenal fans notice Frederico Varandas went back on Pedro Porro agreement
Arsenal fans have been quick to notice that Varandas went back on his agreement with Pedro Porro, before finally allowing him to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Sporting CP’s president had told the full-back he would be allowed to join Tottenham after the Taca da Liga final.
However, at the last minute, Sporting attempted to renegotiate the terms of the deal for Porro and the transfer was called off, leaving the defender ‘distraught’.
The Spaniard finally sealed his move to the Lilywhites after further talks, and Arsenal fans are hoping the same can now happen with Viktor Gyokeres.
Last summer, reports suggested that Gyokeres would be allowed to leave for £67m, with the Gunners actually surpassing that price with their offer.
But as TBR Football has learned, the Gunners’ offer of £56m plus £13m in add-ons does not satisfy Sporting, who want £60m fixed and £9m in add-ons.
Arsenal fans have now taken to X to share their thoughts on the situation and hope it will resolve itself, like Porro to Tottenham in 2023.
One fan said: “He will eventually fold, it must be the reason we are calm with the deal right now.”
Another claimed: “This has been a pattern by Sporting for a while now. You don’t try to hold players to ransom.”
There were further frustrations vented by Arsenal fans: “So why is anyone surprised about the Gyokeres deal? The character of the Sporting CP President speaks volumes. He’s always been like this.”
Finally, another added: “I get wanting to squeeze as much cash out of a transfer as possible, but if you’re Sporting, are you not concerned that players might not sign for you if they think you’ll pull this type of stunt when a big club comes in for them?”
Bayern Munich want to sign Leandro Trossard from Arsenal
In terms of outgoings, Bayern Munich want to sign Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard if their move for Luiz Diaz fails, according to Christian Falk.
As revealed by TBR Football, Bayern are also keen on Gabriel Martinelli, and now they are looking at the Belgian.
Fenerbahce are set for talks over Trossard, with the Gunners open to moving the 30-year-old on this summer.
At this stage, Arsenal are asking for around £17m to sell the winger, but that might have to be reduced given his age and contract situation.
Trossard has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, and with wingers set to arrive in N5, Andrea Berta will need to move him on.
