Some Arsenal fans cannot believe the news Lucas Torreira is closing in on a loan move to Fiorentina.
What’s the story?
According to football.london, the Uruguayan will join the Serie A side on a season-long loan deal. However, the Florence-based outfit will pay the ace’s full wages of £75k-per-week.
Fabrizio Romano is claiming the Italian outfit have the option to sign him on a permanent deal for €15m (£12.8m).
It comes a week after reports emerged claiming Mikel Arteta told the ace he was not in his plans. This is despite the South American making it clear he intends to fight for a place in the team.
Torreira loan move indicates potential arrival at Arsenal
The loan move of Torreira indicates there could be a potential new signing at Arsenal in the remaining few days of the window.
Including the 25-year-old, the north Londoners currently have 18 foreign players in their first-team squad.
The maximum number allowed in a squad is 17, a number achieved should Torreira leave.
And with reports from football.london claiming Willian is close to leaving for Brazil, the number will be reduced to 16.
That means there will be place for one more foreign player in the squad. And it would be hard to imagine Arsenal submitting a side with one less non-homegrown player.
