Report: Arsenal may be stuck with Hector Bellerin with Inter Milan preferring Lazio star
Arsenal could end up being stuck with Spanish defender, Hector Bellerin, with Inter Milan said to be drawing up other plans to replace Achraf Hakimi.
Bellerin has long been mentioned as a potential signing for Inter. Just last month, we reported on TBR how Inter, along with both PSG and Roma, were keen on landing the Arsenal full-back.
However, reports in Italy suggest that Inter’s interest in Bellerin is now cooling a bit. Sempre Inter report that Simone Inzaghi prefers Lazio defender Manuel Lazzari over Bellerin. It is claimed he is Inter’s number one choice, should Hakimi leave.
Hakimi is expected to be sold this summer. PSG lead the race, and they look likely to beat both Arsenal and Chelsea to his signature.
Bellerin, meanwhile, is said to earn around £110k-a-week with the Gunners.
Despite his impressive performances over a number of seasons, Mikel Arteta is thought to be open to him leaving. The Gunners boss is trying to oversee a major overhaul.
Bellerin’s wages, and any fee received, would therefore be most welcome.
Inter cool on Bellerin but Arsenal will have other suitors
The good thing for Arsenal here is that Bellerin has a good reputation in the game anyway. That’s likely to see a number of offers come along, even if Inter don’t.
Clubs in Spain and Italy have been mentioned more than once. Atletico Madrid were strongly linked last year.
In terms of what fee Arsenal might get, that’s anyone’s guess. Bellerin is a quality operator, but he has had injuries. Whether that impacts what the Gunners get, remains to be seen.
But Arsenal need to recoup cash somewhere. Talk of a £250m spending spree is all well and good. But there has to be something coming back too.
