'Laughing stock', 'Why are we so bad?' : Some Arsenal fans bemused as club demand £20m for 'key figure'
Some Arsenal fans were reacting after a report emerged on the club’s asking price for Hector Bellerin.
According to CBS Sports, the Gunners have told interested parties they want £20m for the right-back.
Atletico Madrid are one of the interested parties with Kieran Trippier reportedly on the move to Manchester United.
Diego Simeone’s side have made the Spain international a ‘leading target’.
Real Betis are linked with a move after approaching Arsenal over a transfer.
Bellerin has grown disillusioned with the north London giants and is seeking a transfer away.
The 25-year-old played just 35 times across all competitions last season. He lost his right-back spot to Cedric Soares and then Calum Chambers towards the end of the campaign.
He was labelled a ‘top player‘ by Mikel Arteta.
TBR View: Low asking price from Arsenal a sign of fall from grace for Bellerin
The low asking price from Arsenal is a sign of how far Bellerin has fallen over recent seasons.
At the heigh of his Gunners career, the former Barcelona man was in the PFA team of the season.
However, in recent months he has barely featured for Mikel Arteta’s men. Bellerin was dropped for the latter stages of the Europa League in a sign of his coach’s dwindling faith in him.
