Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is hoping Aaron Ramsdale gets his hands on an individual award at the end of this season.

The Gunners were on the market looking for a new goalkeeper in the summer and almost every Arsenal fan was against the idea of signing Ramsdale from relegated Sheffield United.

Arteta and Edu had to face a ton of criticism from fans, pundits and the media for splashing £24 million on a player whose side had dropped down to the Championship two seasons in a row.

However, Arsenal ignored everyone and signed him. That has now proved to be an incredible decision.

Mikel Arteta: I hope Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale wins an award

The Arsenal boss faced the media today ahead of his side’s trip to Watford on Sunday. Arteta was asked if he feels Ramsdale is the signing of the season and the Spaniard said he hopes the 23-year-old wins an award for his performances this term.

He said, as per Arsenal.com: “I would say that any of my players can get that award but obviously there is no question about how Aaron is performing.

“What he has brought to the team and how quickly he’s adapted to what he’s transmitting every time he is on the field.

“Hopefully he can get a prize but there are still a lot of games to play.”

Ramsdale really has been a sensational signing for Arsenal. Labelled as ‘outstanding’ and ‘brilliant’ by BBC pundit Clinton Morrison, the Englishman is yet to put a foot wrong, and he deserves a ton of praise.

Manchester City star Ederson leads the way with respect to clean sheets in the Premier League this season with 15. Alisson is second on the list with 13 to his name, while Ramsdale, who has played fewer games than both Brazilians, ranks third with 11.

The Premier League Golden Glove award is up for grabs for the Arsenal man, but considering how good Manchester City’s defence is, Ederson remains the likeliest to win that accolade this season.

That, however, shouldn’t upset Ramsdale as he’ll be in the running for that award every season from now if he keeps up his form.
