Arsenal’s search for their first summer signing continues towards the weekend as negotiations rumble on in the background.
On the back of such an impressive 2023/24 campaign, Mikel Arteta‘s side are leaving themselves with an uphill task for the remaining weeks of the window.
The Gunners are not alone in making a slow start to this summer’s market but clubs like Manchester United are really beginning to pick up some pace.
Arsenal are yet to get any new faces through the door but that is not through a lack of effort.
And it now appears that Edu Gaspar would be willing to up the ante in the race to land one of their top targets this summer.

Arsenal ready to improve their offer for top summer target
One of the biggest talking points of the summer window has been the future of Riccardo Calafiori following his displays at Euro 2024.
He is a player who Arsenal are extremely keen to bring to north London this summer with work being done to do just that.
However, a stumbling block has been hit in negotiations with the two clubs struggling to reach an agreement on price after the ‘amazing’ Calafiori agreed terms on a five-year deal with Arsenal.
Now, it seems as if the Gunners may be willing to up their offer in an attempt to seal the deal.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal would be willing to offer more for Calafiori, but it may not be to the liking of Bologna.
“For now, there is no contract with Bologna, because the price of Calafiori has changed a lot. Before Euro 2024, it was €30-35 million. After his performances for the Italian national team, the club from Serie A demands €50 million,” he said.
“And Arsenal believes that it is too much, being ready to spend a maximum of €1-2 million (£850k-£1.7m), but certainly not €10m (£8.5m).
Arsenal at risk of causing an issue in Riccardo Calafiori deal
Perhaps it could be a waiting game for the Gunners to see if Bologna will back down from their stance on the player’s price.
However, the north London outfit are certainly playing a risky game if that is the case.
Considering there has not been any contact in recent days with the Serie A side, it does feel like this deal has hit a real hurdle considering the player agreed on personal terms two weeks ago.
Considering Calafiori still has three years remaining on his deal with Bologna, the Italian side are not exactly desperately in need of selling him – especially having already sold Joshua Zirkzee.
