Arsenal Transfer News: Leandro Trossard latest with Tottenham bid likely

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are likely to go head to head to try and sign Brighton winger, Leandro Trossard, before January ends.

Trossard is thought to be on his way out of Brighton after falling out with manager Roberto De Zerbi. Despite being in fine form for most of the season, the Belgian hasn’t impressed his new manager, and a transfer is now most likely.

And according to TalkSPORT, it’s Arsenal and Tottenham who are most likely to battle it out for Trossard.

TalkSPORT writes how Tottenham have already made contact with Brighton over Trossard. Indeed, we covered on TBR this morning how a Spurs bid has already come in for Trossard. However, TalkSPORT claims that Spurs are likely to face big competition from Arsenal to sign Trossard.

After missing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk, the Gunners have reportedly earmarked Trossard as a potential alternative.

Brighton paid around £15m to sign Trossard back in 2019. The Seagulls are open to letting the player leave but will want more than they paid, meaning Arsenal and Spurs need to stump up a decent fee.

TBR’s View: Trossard a comedown from Mudryk for Arsenal

It’s not that Leandro Trossard isn’t a good player, far from it. However, if Arsenal were to sign him after going so far with the Mudryk deal, then it would seem a bit of a comedown.

Of course, Trossard would likely be able to help both Spurs and Arsenal right now. But there has to be questions over whether he starts for either, while this fallout with De Zerbi will raise questions on attitude as well.

It’s likely the race for Trossard will heat up the longer the window goes on. If Spurs and Arsenal haven’t got anyone else going into the last week or so, then expect Trossard to be more aggressively pursued.
